.....And Grow

Lila was about a week old here, sleeping peacefully. She seems to have scratched herself.

Watch Me Grow

Mike and Lila at our 2nd stay in the hospital!

Lila comes home....then back

Lila came home from the hospital on Friday May 12th. She seemed very sleepy and not eating too much, which caused some concern. After placing a call to the pediatrician, Mike and I took Lila back to the hospital for some bloodwork. Once again we never left. It seems Lila was a bit jaundice and needed some phototherapy. She was readmitted and placed on a portable phototherapy bed. Lila had to stay in her "tanning bed" for 2 days only coming off to eat. Luckily she was able to come home on Mother's day!

Lila's Birthday

Lila Jane Kennedy was born on May 10, 2006, 11:06 a.m. at Newton Wellesley Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and measured 18.25 inches. She was a short little girl. Mike and I went to the hospital that Wednesday for a routine check-up and ultrasound. Lila was due May 8th and was a little tardy for her arrival. The ultrasound showed that my amniotic fluid was on the lower side which prompted the doctor to check if my "water" broke. Apparently my "water" had been broken and had been slowly leaking for about 48 hours. Needless to say, Mike and I never left the hospital that day and I was induced at 7 p.m. I have to say labor wasn't that difficult for me. I had some minor back aches and never really felt a true contraction. Around 11 that night I began to feel some more intense back pain and decided to opt for the epidural before the pain became unbearable. Once the epidural was administered things were very easy. I slept through the labor (alongside Mike and my mom) and by 7 a.m. I was about 9 cm dilated. I couldn't believe it! I began to push around 10 a.m. and out came Lila and hour and 6 minutes later!! I was extremely fortunate to have such an easy labor and delivery.
